A happy smile from Ntombothando wearing beautiful beads that she made herself

Before being identified as a community member in need of support, Ntombothando was struggling to move around because of her broken crutches. Through the programme Ntombothando has received a new set of crutches and is on the waiting list for a rural wheelchair.

The Rural Ability Programme is really making a difference

Ntombothando was struggling to move around because of her broken crutches. She also did not have an appropriate wheelchair to navigate the rugged terrain – an issue which further limited her mobility.

Through the programme Ntombothando has received a new set of crutches and is on the waiting list for a rural wheelchair. These two small changes will enable Ntombothando to move around without help – boosting both her confidence and independence.

In Ntombothando own words: “I am so happy I could cry. I did not know when I would have new crutches again and am so excited about receiving a new wheelchair with 3 wheels. I am very thankful for this programme that is helping people with disabilities in their homes.”
