Meet Shannon Morgan

Shannon Morgan joined the Rural Ability Programme as Programme Co-ordinator in February 2014.

Shannon is a qualified Occupational Therapist with a passion for community-based rehabilitation. She is not a new face in the Zithulele community, having spent five years working at Zithulele Hospital and helping to develop rehabilitation services in the area.
She left in 2013 to spend a year working for the Cerebral Palsy Association in Port Elizabeth, before returning to Zithulele to play a leadership role in the implementation of the Rural Ability Programme (RAP).

A friend from Zithulele told her about the post with RAP and she thought it would be the perfect opportunity to spend more time working in a community that she had grown to love; and gain a broader and better understanding of the challenges that face people with disabilities and their families.

Shannon feels really privileged to work alongside the Community Disability Workers, who are passionate about their work and their communities and bringing light to people's lives. She loves being able to spend time with the families, in their homes; listening to their concerns and difficulties and helping them.

Shannon recharges her batteries by visiting the beautiful places in and around the Wild Coast. She also loves swimming in the ocean and reading.
